We will never ask you to pay for anything outside of our site, by email or through a third party.

Sometimes you may need to pay a local tax to your host, but this payment will only need to be made through WeChalet, and in many cases this will be included in the cost of the reservation.

If you paid for your booking outside of WeChalet (for example, by wire transfer or bank transfer), you may have already paid for a fraudulent booking.

For assistance, let us know immediately.

Report offsite payment requests

If a WeChalet host on the WeChalet site asks you to pay offsite or through another company, let us know.

You will not receive a paper or PDF invoice from a host or WeChalet asking you to pay it.

If a host uses any of these terms, report them: Western Union, MoneyGram, Cashier's Check, Money Order, Liberty Reserve.

To report a fraudulent email or message

If you receive an email or message from anyone asking you to pay or accept offsite payment, please let us know immediately.

Types of scams

Never give out your email address prior to accepting a reservation or transferring funds outside of the WeChalet system, and always carefully review emails claiming to be from WeChalet.

Here are some examples of common scams:

Advance fee scam: Someone offers to pay you or give you something if you pay through a service outside of WeChalet.

Phishing scam: Someone sends an email or a link that appears to be from WeChalet or another trusted site. These messages are designed to prompt you to provide confidential information such as passwords or other email addresses. Phishing messages can contain malware, which is malware that allows you to access your computer to collect your personal information, including your passwords.

Travel scam: If you pay or send a deposit using a wire transfer, someone will offer you a good price. After receiving your money, they don't give you the advertised reservation.

Overpayment scam: Someone offers to pay a host more than the price of the reservation, then asks the host to give them money to cover the difference.

Third Party Booking Scam: A person offers to book and pay for a WeChalet booking through their website or third party service, often claiming to have a WeChalet coupon or discount. These reservations are usually paid for using stolen credit cards.

Note: Any reservation made outside of WeChalet violates our Terms and Conditions. If we identify that a reservation was made through a third party service, we may cancel the reservation and deactivate the accounts of the person who made the reservation and the guest.
